The Murky Grotto is finally complete! Just a heads up, there will probably be a lack of posts for a short while as I prepare everything for my presentation at Click Convention 2010. But fear not! Project CoI is still very much moving forward!

Things still progressing well! Just tied all of the Murky Grotto area together, got a few things to tweak and then add the doodads but that area is just about done! 3 more to go… :)

Also, still busy on finalizing the demo to be released at Click Convention 2010 – so most of my time is being put towards that at the moment. Anyways, stay tuned and don’t forget to check our Facebook for CoI!

Eight of the thirty rooms for the underwater area of ‘Murky Grotto’ complete, and lots of tweaks and fixes done to the engine to make sure it is demo ready in time for Click Convention 2010!

Fourth Area Complete!

Tonight I finished the fourth area, the ‘Frozen Wastes’ and uploaded some screenshots for your viewing pleasure! Next step is the spritework for the next area, the ‘Murky Grotto’. Should be fairly easy as this is an underwater area. Four more areas to go and then I will be ready to start adding baddies in!

Third area complete!

Great news! The third area ‘Silent Ruins’ is complete! I’ve posted a few screenshots for you all to check out, just to see how things are shaping up. I had most of it done but after a few run-throughs I decided it was too cluttered and went back to clean it up a bit. I’m much more pleased with the results so far. Just a few doodads to add here and there just to bring a bit of life to it but otherwise its done and fully explorable.

I also went back through the older areas and cleaned some stuff up, and got the music engine up and working. It now finally changes music when you go to new areas! Well, for the ones that have completed music anyways… heh.

Hey everyone!

New screenshots! Make sure to check them out!

Things are still going pretty well here, been able to make some solid progress on the new area. I posted on the Facebook that I got all of the new rooms connected and was just now adding doodads and whatnot. This is actually the part that takes the longest because need to make sure all the tiles are sitting right, and then to ensure that by adding pretty stuff doesnt alter anything in the area by ways of unintentionally covering stuff up like platforms or doorways.

So far I’ve finished ‘pimping out’ 21 of the 31 rooms for the “Mistral Plains”, and after that I move onto working on spriting out the tiles for “Silent Ruins”. On the plus side, after this round of plugging things together I’ve discovered a couple things that will help me speed the process up for future levels, so I’ll be making some quick changes to the template ‘level’ to accomodate.

Stay tuned!

Not dead!

Hey everyone, just another quick update – had a bit of time today so I finished off another few rooms and tweaked the newest baddie to correct its movement as it was acting a bit wonky. I have a few college courses again so I don’t have the time I would LIKE to spend on CoI, but the project isn’t dead, I promise! :)

Over the next few days I hope to start working on the new area, the Mistral Plains. Have lots of background tiling to do but shouldn’t be too difficult, just time consuming. I spent some time trying to come up with a productivity ‘game plan’, so to speak – in that I think I am going to create the entire world, and worry about adding in bad guys as the final step. Right now the only really daunting task is getting all the pieces made and put together, and I almost have to be in two different mindsets for level design, and then to work on enemy AI. I think a completed game world will also help Aaron in completing the final few tracks of music needed, and allow for progress on that front also.

Stay tuned!

Hey those of you who still check for updates on occasion! Just a quick update that progress as resumed after a small hiatus for classes and a small MMO addiction. ^_^; The break has also done well in having to come back and play some areas again, to fix some things I missed prior and make a few changes I wasn’t truly happy with.

I’ve been also posting a bit more on the facebook page for Core of Innocence so if you have a facebook account please become a fan and show your support! You can find the facebook page Here
